We Said We'd Update Didn't We?
We promise, updates will be regular from now on -- like a certain Mr. Franklin said before, "You will delay, but time will not". Unless, of course, like the past few times, unforeseen circumstances transpire to cause us to somehow be unable to do so, and with that we offer our advanced apologies.
The last month of the year 2007 brings about a series of events to look forward to. To start off, we have This! Is! Shoe! Gaze! Post! Rock! Fucking! Violence! in a couple of days, with touring bands Spartak (AU noise jazz) and Akta Angkasa (KL space rock) headlining the show, so be sure to pop by and catch the show if these tunes happen to be right up your alley.
As the year draws to a close, we will see Australian screamo band Eucalypt coming here as part of their Southeast Asian tour -- here are the flyers for the shows they will be having in Singapore (details to be announced in the coming weeks) and Malaysia. Finally, we will end 2007 with a blast(beat) with Making Grindcore Insane Again! on the 31st of December.
Do check out the Articles section as we have just uploaded 2 poems -- also taken from the Our Coalition event zine -- Untitled by Shafie and Destitute by Iqra`. There is a newly uploaded (about time!) gallery too, of the recently-concluded Break The Chains 3, much thanks (again) to Jeremy. Where have the rest of the photographers gone?
On that final note, we hope to organize and participate in much more exciting things coming up in 2008 -- remember, it is your contribution, no matter how small you may think it to be, that helps keep this scene alive. Tear down the hierarchies, take out the prejudice, and seize your life back before it is too late.

What's Next?
So a month translated into 2. However, it is a firm conviction of ours that it is better late than never, and hence it is time to see this story unfold, as we carve our names and mark our presence, its layers unfurling slowly to form a picture of resonance and beauty. The next 2 months will see a few touring bands arriving on our sunny shores, as well as a flurry of activity! To start things off, in slightly more than a week we will have d-beaters War All The Time from the UK for Break the Chains 3, so expect a full-on crust attack! Following that in December, 2 Australian bands, Eucalypt and Spartak will be playing (separately) in upcoming shows with more information coming very, very soon. Stay tuned!
A new track titled 'Panoramic Dissent' by Blackstar, a local alternative hardrock band, has been uploaded in the Audio section. According to one of their members, their songs "are dedicated to every politically-frustrated citizen tired of living in walk-over GRCs, but who are proud to be Singaporeans". What is punk? What is hardcore? Is it a particular style of music or is it the message inherent in the music regardless of its genre? You decide.
We updated the gallery after a year 2 months ago. This time, we are going to update the Articles section after a year-long hiatus as well, with 2 articles to be exact: one titled Divisions by Ilyas and the other titled Punk Rock is a Way of Life by x13x; 2 inspiring columns taken off the recently-concluded Our Coalition event zine. Expect to read more writings in the coming months! Also, do feel free to submit anything you might like us to feature to lioncitydiy@gmail.com - we know all of you have something to say!
There are 2 events we encourage everyone interested to check out in the coming weeks: the ASEAN People Want Human Rights Now! public forum on the 18th November and Reclaim The Screens, a private screening showcasing original DIY films like At the First Glance - An Introduction of Food Not Bombs Kuala Lumpur and 6 Shorts by Amir Muhammad - to name a few - on the 1st of December.
Till next month, friends and comrades.

We're Baaaack! Part 2
How did we begin? How do we (re)start? Where do we go from here? Questions that might be on the minds of everyone who has been following the Lion City DIY community's web portal. All we can tell you for now is that we're trying to gather our resources together and get this site up and running again. To start off (once again), here are the updates for September 2007.
This month, the DIY community puts up a month long event called Our Coalition at the Substation's Random Room. Details of all activities, from discussions to exhibitions and a closing gig on 30th September, can be found here.
Pazahora, a local D-beat band, recently released their full length CD and uploaded in the audio section is one of the tracks entitled, 'Dogs of War'.
At the same time, the gallery sees an update after an unfortunate year's hiatus! This is also attributed to the lack of contributions by photographers so dont have too much fun in the pit and forget to send your shots in okay? The uploaded gallery is of Break The Chains 2. Much appreciation to Jeremy for the shots!
So enjoy this month's updates! See you all next month! (Really lah)
PS: The new email address for all correspondence is lioncitydiy@gmail.com

Welcome to the all new LIONCITYDIY.com!
Its been over a year since we started this site and so we decided to revamp and re-update everything! One of the main changes made is the new section on the site called Writings, which consists of articles, reviews and interviews. The format of the picture galleries has also changed. If this is the first time you are viewing the new site, it may take a few seconds to load parts of the site. However subsequently it becomes smooth.
There is a gig coming up on Saturday July 16th called The Death of Liberty featuring the thrash terror Domestik Doktrin from Indonesia, get details at the events section and our forum.
The SINK interview is also up! Thanks to Jason (LJS) and Fadhil from Awareness Zine for the contribution. A gallery of the Japcore Invasion show is also up and as you can see we are now using a new format for galleries.
Lastly, if any of you play in a band/project and would like us to feature a track on our site or wrote an article or for other contributions of any kind, please get in touch with us at our new email address - lioncitydiy@newdisorder.com
